Police: Man Shoves Guard Through Display

AKRON, Ohio — An alleged shoplifter is facing serious charges after he tried to get away with a lot more than stolen merchandise, Akron police reports.

Mychael D. Andrews, 23, is charged with aggravated robbery, carrying a concealed weapon and receiving stolen property.

Police said back on December 14, Andrews attempted to leave the Macy’s store at Chapel Hill, without paying for some items.

That’s when, according to police, Andrews shoved a store security guard through a glass display and threatened other employees by saying he had a gun.

Andrews fled the scene; he wasn’t arrested until January 20.

Police say he lied to officers about who he was, and racked up another charge of misrepresenting identity.

The gun found on Andrews was stolen, according to Akron police.
