LOUISVILLE, Ohio — Police are looking for two suspects who robbed a jewelry store Tuesday, assaulting employees with pepper spray.
It happened around 10:20 a.m. at Rae’s Jewelry, 100 E. Main St., in Louisville.
Police said two black males entered the store carrying duffel bags and pepper spray and threatened to shoot the employees. According to one of the store’s owners, Ashley McCauley, the men pepper spray attacked the women and then grabbed an undisclosed amount of jewelry and cash.
“It’s definitely a scary situation,” said McCauley.
She said the men definitely seemed like they had a plan and were in and out of the store in well under two minutes.
“They each had a canister of pepper spray and immediately pepper sprayed the two women working and were in and out very quickly,” said McCauley.
They may have gotten away with the goods but were captured on surveillance cameras.
Police hope someone will see the images and call them right away.
One of the suspects is described as 6 feet, 2 inches tall, weighing around 175 pounds and wearing a white and blue Chicago Bulls coat and matching blue pants.
The second suspect is described as being 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing 195 pounds and wearing a light-colored Nautica jacket and gray sweat pants. The suspect was missing a front tooth and had light discolored areas of skin on his face, said police.
McCauley said the family-run business has been open for 39 years and will move forward. They’ve never had an incident like this and hope it never happens again.
“It’s a very hard thing to watch two people you care about go through a bad situation like that,” said Ashley, “And you never know if they’re going to escalate the next time or not.”
Anyone with information on the robbery or the suspects is asked to call Louisville police at 330-875-2871.
