WESTLAKE– Police said an 18-year-old man was robbed of his iPod after listing it for sale on Craigslist.

Westlake police said the man got a text at 10 p.m. on Feb. 16 from someone interested in buying it.

Police said the buyer, 21-year-old Deanet Battista, arrived alone in a car just before midnight and started talking to the man.

That’s when, police said, a man on foot jumped the victim, took the iPod, threatened to kill him and ran off.

Police said Battista drove away.

Her car was stopped at Clague Rd. and Hilliard Blvd. by Westlake and Rocky River police.

The passenger, 24-year-old George Jordan, was arrested for robbery and aggravated menacing. The driver, Battista, was arrested for complicity to those offenses.

The iPod was recovered.

Police caution that a safer time to handle these types of transactions would be to meet in a public place with lots of people around in daylight hours.

Police also said to require cash and don’t go alone.
